You are always selling. Period!
People “buy” from people. They buy from people they know and trust. Period. Our “credibility” ratings are one of our most prized metrics.
People need to “buy” the person in front of them. Believe in them. Feel that person is trustworthy. They need to like them.
From the clothes we choose, to the backgrounds, the script and graphics, it is ALL selling. Period.
People only buy from people?
People do buy from businesses or organizations. But in one-on-one situations, you may go in “buying” from XYZ corp, but if the sales person is a dolt, you’re likely to bolt, no matter how amazing that company is!
The sales building blocks never change
What about the other parts? The venue or the internet platform used? How good my camera or microphone is? What about my lighting, slide deck, and all the other details?
Certainly all those things have some effect on the outcome. But none of them will overcome a bad presenter. I guarantee you that a great presenter can and will overcome any of those things not being that good. An engaging, passionate person “on stage” will rock your session!
